As you all know, Heavy Weather Weekend is right around the corner.
We've
really promoted this event throughout the Puget Sound area, and expect
good attendance. It is important for all of us to come out and support
our club and show our visitors a great time. Please let the Float
Chairman, Capt. John Rosendale, know if your slip will be available
for
visitors. If you plan to race, and are under the club cover or in a boat
house that might be blocked by "timbers" or visitors, please let John know
so we can get a n open slip for you. If you're not going to race, and
are in an open slip, let him know so we can get you under cover for the
weekend, thus opening your slip for racers or visitors. Don't wait until
the last minute to make your intentions known. Heavy Weather is a team
effort and cooperation is the key to its success. "Timbers" go up on
Thursday, so we'd like to get boats moved the previous weekend or early in
the week, rather than later. We've had a lot of new members join the
club since the last Heavy Weather, so here's your chance to get involved
and earn lots of "Service Points". For you "long time" members, don't
forget that Heavy Weather is "an all hands event". Join the team, get
involved, have fun!
It's hard to believe it, but election of new officers and
Executive Committee members is just a few months from now. We need
energetic, well qualified members willing to step forward to assume the
leadership roles of the club. The Commodore, Vice Commodore, Rear
Commodore, Secretary, Treasurer, and two members of the Executive
Committee will come up for election in May. If you are interested in
taking a responsible role in club management, contact any member of the
current bridge, P/C Gary Carr, Chair of the Nominating Committee,
or any
Past Commodore to learn about the duties and responsibilities. Don't be
shy or feel intimidated, step up and volunteer. The club needs your
support and you'll find a lot of satisfaction in serving.
The General Meeting on March 20th will be a "Dinner Meeting"
commencing at 1800. After dinner, and before the meeting, we will be
given a presentation by the Seattle Yacht Club "Opening Day Trio".
Watch
for the flyer and sign-up sheet - you don't want to miss the dinner and
entertainment; always great fun.
See you 'round the club,
Charles Billings
Commodore
