BYC's Heavy Weather Weekend is coming up rapidly on February 17 - 20, and
I stress again that this is an All Hands Event! Get involved and
participate where you can. The chair persons for the Friday evening Wine
Tasting, CAPT Andy Kupp; Saturday evening dinner, CAPT Blain Eliot; Sunday
evening dinner, CAPT Mike Ryan; and Monday breakfast, CAPT Doug Smith all
need help. Come on you new members and help out! It is a great way to
learn about the Club and meet new friends. Check with these members or
any of the Club Officers to ask how to get involved. Besides the social
events, there are fire watches, mooring, parking, setup and takedown, and
a myriad of other tasks to be performed to make this a success. The theme
for the skit competition this year is "Sea Shanties". We need a "few good
men and women" with good voices and a spirit of the sea to put this
together and have a good time. We also would like to have some
accompaniment such as a keyboard, flute, or accordion and some help with
the design and construction of the backdrop curtain. Be sure to see the
flyer elsewhere in this issue.
Looking down the road, there will be a dinner at the General Meeting on
March 20th. Our guests will be the Seattle Yacht Club's "Admiral and
Staff" who will present an overview of Opening Day. CAPT Mike Ryan and
his wife Mona-Lisa will Chair the event with CAPT Al Gonzales heading the
galley staff. You know this will be an outstanding dinner.
In closing, I would like to mention that several committee chairman
positions will be open for next year. If you have any aspirations for any
of these positions, please contact me by phone at 792-0198 or email
rpmorse@msn.com.
