We're well into our social year with the Salmon Bake, Margarita Madness, and Octoberfest behind us. To date I am slightly under budget, just where I want to be. We've been having lots of fun this fall with more social events on the horizon… Thank you Jytte and Bob Wheeler for another wonderful Octoberfest! It occurred to me at the event that this "Friday Night Social" has been entertaining over 100 guests for the last several of the nine years now that Jytte and committee have been doing this. The food and drink, and the live Bavarian music were a real treat. By the time this Towline hits the streets the Halloween costume party of October 31st will be upon us. Mona Lisa and Mike Ryan are the chairs for this event, which is open to our NBFs (non-boating friends) and other clubs. At last report it was looking to be very well attended. This event features LIVE MUSIC performed by Classic Ride, a band including two of our own members, Kevin McStay and Cal Ormiston. It's been a while since we've had a Halloween party around the clubhouse. It promises to be a lot of fun! Andy and Nancy Kupp will be hosting our "New Member's Night" again this year. It will be held on Friday, Nov 20th. This is a wine tasting party that has become a tradition at BYC. Sponsors, be sure to invite your new members and new members, be sure to be there! We appreciate you, and this is one of your best opportunities to meet some of the members of your club. If no one invites you, show up anyway and look up one of the bridge officers. We'll make sure you get introduced to other members and that you have a great time! We are now in our second year of transitioning to a new form of government where our e-committee has taken on greater responsibility in the management of the club. In some cases this has created confusion and even some frustrations. I encourage all of you to be patient with this process. Key to getting through this will be a simple understanding of who does what. Most of this is published in our by-laws as found in your Annual but some of this is a work in process. Don't hesitate to ask the bridge for an interpretation. Speaking of our Annual, it's here! This year Leslie Hunt has done a spectacular job! We have new covers, lots of pictures, and many improvements. There is one free annual for each household, which may be picked up at the club store. Warm Regards, John Rosendale Vice Commodore |
