Our journey has begun. As I write this I haven’t yet been installed as your Rear Commodore but the roles and responsibilities are already in motion and we’re hitting the ground at full throttle. As a refresher, I’m listing the R/C responsibilities so that you will know that I’m the point of contact if you have questions or issues with any of the following: Reciprocity, Club Stewards, Galley, Club Setup, Clubhouse Christmas Decoration, Tree Trimming Party, Lighted Boat Parade and Picnics-in-the-Park. If you are interested in chairing or helping with any of these positions or activities let me know. On the horizon, the Picnic-in-the-Park dates are June 16, July 21 and August 18. P/C Gary and Jo Carr will be chairing the June picnic so you know it will be one you won’t want to miss. I’d like to thank all of you for your words of encouragement as I take on this position. The support from Commodore Rosendale and Vice Commodore Longenecker has been uplifting as they guide us into this new position. Bev and I are looking forward to representing BYC in the coming years with excitement. At my high school graduation commencement (way back when), I gave a speech that combined lessons learned from athletics and math theory with the axiom, “The whole is equal to the sum of its parts”. With that in mind, realize that BYC can only be all it can be when everyone is participating. I’m hoping we can get some of the seasoned BYC members coming back to social functions to enlighten our newer members in many of BYC’s grand traditions. Rob Bruins Rear Commodore |
