See you at the April 4th General Meeting for the first Nomination for elections.

The new Fuel Control System has been ordered and will hopefully be installed and up and running before long. The facilities Manager and Environmental Chairman Cpt. Spearman will be the persons tasked with training members in the proper use and safeguards of the new Fuel Control Unit. No member will be given a fuel card until they have been properly trained , and have signed the fuel sales/dispensing agreement.

Outstation update, Cpt. Golden has reported that apparently BYC does not have water rights on its property. He indicated that our share of this years water system maintenance will total about $1100. He feels the recent improvements have made the Reverse Osmosis system much more reliable. He will pursue an agreement to solidify and continue our partnership with Oro Bay Properties in a formal manner that will be renewed on a yearly basis, despite non-responses to formal letters sent by P/C’s Miller and Carr during their respective Commodore years, we hope to have a prompt and favorable response this time.

On March 18th the Club held a Memorial Service for a long time member Cpt. Jack Smalley. Captain Smalley was always there to help the club and individual members. He was instrumental in starting the Lions Club Sponsored Eye Bank, which helps get usable Donor Eye Tissue out to those that need it, and is now a world wide endeavor. A long time Bremerton area Pharmacist, he operated both Smalleys Drug on Callow Avenue and Smalleys Lakeside Drug at Kitsap Lake. Jack joined BYC in 1956 and was noted for his making BYC look beautiful by adorning the Clubhouse with flowers. He loved boating and would often be seen sailing his boat in between shifts at the two Pharmacies. Jack will surely be missed by both the Club and community.

The St. Patricks Cruise to Poulsbo Marina over the March18th-20th weekend was a fun time had by all, with so many fun activities orchestrated by our Fleet Captain Andy&Nancy Kupp. Those that weren’t there missed a fun cruise in spite of the Gale force Winds we experienced at 3 in the morning! That’s all from me for now.
