On March 18th the Club held a Memorial Service for a long time member Cpt.
Jack Smalley. Captain Smalley was always there to help the club and
individual members. He was instrumental in starting the Lions Club
Sponsored Eye Bank, which helps get usable Donor Eye Tissue out to those
that need it, and is now a world wide endeavor. A long time Bremerton area
Pharmacist, he operated both Smalleys Drug on Callow Avenue and Smalleys
Lakeside Drug at Kitsap Lake. Jack joined BYC in 1956 and was noted for
his making BYC look beautiful by adorning the Clubhouse with flowers. He
loved boating and would often be seen sailing his boat in between shifts
at the two Pharmacies. Jack will surely be missed by both the Club and
community.
The St. Patricks Cruise to Poulsbo Marina over the March18th-20th weekend
was a fun time had by all, with so many fun activities orchestrated by our
Fleet Captain Andy&Nancy Kupp. Those that weren’t there missed a fun
cruise in spite of the Gale force Winds we experienced at 3 in the
morning! That’s all from me for now.
