During the past few months, the Planning and Budget Committees
have
been meeting almost weekly addressing the present and future needs of
the Club. The committee members have put a lot of time and effort into
these packages and I believe you will find the results realistic, on
target, and worthy of your acceptance. My personal thanks to CAPT
Roger Horne, Chairman of the Planning Committee, P/C Floyd, Chairman of
the Budget Committee, and all the members for their teamwork and
dedication to Bremerton Yacht Club!
In the near future, we will be installing new equipment to automate
our
fueling system. Although this will allow Club members to fuel
unattended at any time, it will come with a huge “price” in
responsibility! In these times, a fueling mishap resulting in a spill
is taken very seriously by the EPA, U.S. Coast Guard, and all the other
environmental groups and can result in severe fines and even a
shutdown. EVERY member who uses this system MUST be thoroughly trained
and knowledgeable in what to do and who to contact should any untoward
event happen. This is not meant to scare members but to appraise them
of what we are facing and how we must manage it. More to come on this
subject.
