As I write this article, we are just a few days away from our 2005 Heavy
Weather Weekend. In walking about the Club this morning, I believe we are
ready! The Work Party last weekend accomplished all of the needed tasks
in preparation for this event and the Club looks spectacular. Almost all
of the A-string electrical upgrade has been completed, the docks have been
cleaned, the Clubhouse spiffed up, the landscaping titivated, and the yard
debris in the park area removed. My thanks to our Work Party Chairman,
CAPT Al Fox, and all the members who participated. As a heads up, the
next Work Party is scheduled for the 9th and 10th of April followed by
another on the 14th and 15th of May. There is still an extensive list of
projects to be completed this year, so those members still needing Work
Party credit should plan accordingly.
A special thanks to the Skipperette galley crew for the great lunches
provided on Saturday and Sunday. Your continued support is most
appreciated.
On a housekeeping issue, I have recently noticed debris such as soda cans,
paper coffee cups, tissues, and plastic shopping bags left around the Club
and on the ground in the parking area. Yes we have a Caretaker who
provides our janitorial services, but he is not hired to cleanup after us.
Those members working around the railway and in the park area, please
check your shoes before you enter the lounge. There has recently been
some severe carpet stains in the lounge which cannot be blamed on Hu Dat
coffee. The appearance of our Club is the responsibility of all the
members and reflects upon all of us. Please take a minute to look around
and help keep it clean!
