The 2005 International Cruiser Race was held in July this summer. BYC had 3 participants. Captain Owen and Linda Ritter came in second in Class 1 and 13th overall with a 2.1126% error on their vessel Outbound. P/C Mike and Billie Henry came in 3rd in class 3, 18th overall with a 2.4934% error on Peachy Keen. Captain Dan and Diane Robinson came in 3rd in class 1, 19th overall with a 2.583% error on Lucky Girl. Congratulations to the BYC racers who always represent our club well.

The Seattle Yacht Club Stimpson contest was held Sept. 17th. The results will be after the Towline deadline so, will be in next months edition.

Port Orchard Yacht Club's Fall Round-up contest is scheduled for October 1st. Logs are available on the IPBA web site and some logs are available in the club house. This is a fun event and a simple course. There will be a skull session in the club house on Sept. 27th at 1900.

Upcoming BYC log race events: Log racing 101 for new and semi new log racers or anyone interested, begins October 4th. There will be training sessions Oct 4th and 6th at 1900 in the club house. The Novice Big Brother contest has been moved from Oct. 2nd to the 9th to de-conflict race dates. I will conduct training and get big brothers if needed or we all can go on my boat if necessary to give you the needed experience and confidence to log race. It really isn't a big deal once you get the basics and go with someone on a contest. I, or someone (I'll arrange), will be available to go with you to time your boat on the measured mile when you want. The intent is to provide training and a learning log race to begin to develop new interest in the sport(?). BYC needs all the racers we can get in the upcoming Heavy Weather contest this coming February. The Novice Big Brother contest will be one of two preliminary preparation contests for Heavy Weather. I highly recommend attending this contest. Even if you are an experienced racer, you may wish to participate in this event. I will have a special award for the non-novices.

The next BYC log race will be the P/C Cup. Originally scheduled for Nov. 13, has been moved to Nov. 6th to de-conflict other events. Again, this will be a good training session as I will have log racing 102 on Nov. 1st and 3rd at 1900 in the club house. This will be another preparation for our big race, Heavy Weather. I highly recommend attendance in this contest to prepare you for the big one.

I'm requesting all current, former and anyone who's ever even run one race to participate this fall in these events. We need the racers for our Heavy Weather contest and, I firmly believe, with the upcoming training and contests, you will do well in Heavy Weather.
