Regatta for Power
August 2005 Report by the Chair
Congratulations to Captain Jack Hensley. He took second overall in the
Alaska 1000 predicted log contest. I still haven't gotten the official
results yet other than to hear his standing. Good job Jack! I understand
he took a couple other prestigious awards he will fill us all in this fall
at a regular meeting.
The SYC Stimson contest is coming up on September 17th. I will be holding a
skull session on September 13th at 1900 in the clubhouse. I haven't seen
the log on the IPBA web site yet. Keep checking.
Around the latter part of September and into October, I will be holding Log
Racing 101 and 102 for new and inexperienced log racers. This will include
going on an actual club log race and will be in preparation for our upcoming
Thompson Trophy, Past Commodore cup and Heavy Weather navigation contests.
If you are interested, there will be more information coming soon on our web
site, at our regular meetings and in the Towline. Or call me and let me
know you are interested. I will be contacting those who I believe should be
log racers and strong arming you into going out.
Have fun on the water,
P/C Leo Longenecker
