Regatta for Power
Report by the Chair
20 June 2005
> There aren't any results to post for this Towline, just upcoming
> events. Captain Jack Hensley is competing in the Alaska 1000 Predicted Log
> Contest. This race started in Nanaimo and ends, July 2nd, in Juneau. I'll
> have the results of that in the August Towline if I hear from Jack. The
> International Cruiser Race is being held this summer July 16 in the San
> Juans. See to IPBA web site for more information.
> I plan on having new and semi-new log racing training this fall in
> preparation for Heavy Weather. I'll hold some training sessions in the club
> house and then some actual on the water contests with several contestants
> per boat to get the experience and feel for on the water competition. I'll
> have more on this in later articles. If you are interested and would like
> to use your boat, let me know. I'll be contacting prospective racers over
> the next several months. This training will help prepare the contestants
> for our Heavy Weather contest.

Mandatory Liability Insurance
> As of the end of May, all members are accounted for for liability
> insurance. There are still a couple of issues I am working on but no one had
> to be expelled for lack of insurance. Only one member got rid of his boat
> during the period and I don't believe it was insurance related. The next
> huge hurtle to leap is getting the renewal notice. Some companies are good,
> others are not. If I don't receive your renewal notice within a couple of
> months of your renewal date, I'll send you a friendly reminder. Please
> don't get upset. I'm sure the problem is with your insurance company, not
> you. But, I need these notices. Please contact your insurance company and
> remind them, BYC must get automatic notification of any action on your
> insurance policy.
