Report from the Regatta Chair for Power

May 15, 2005 (Received 20 May 2005)

This past May 14th four skippers and their crew from BYC attended the Poulsbo - Rainier Log Race. Out of 30 registered participants, Bremerton took home three pieces of hardware and ended up in 4th and 5th place over all. Great racing BYC!

The actual results included Owen Ritter with a 3ed in Class I, Mike Henry with a 1st in class II, and Jack Hensley with a 1st in Class III.

The following day, Sunday the 15th, we held our own "Ladies Day Race" with six of our lady skippers participating. First place went to Cathy Thomas, Second place went to Stacy Neil, and Lynn Rumbold took third place. Thanks to all for their participation.

This will be my last report as your Regatta Chair for Power for 2004 - 2005. It's been my pleasure to serve you!

I leave my position with this encouragement to those that have considered log racing but haven't yet taken the initiative… Now is the time to do it! We're heading into a new season and there are lots of BYC log racers that would be happy to help and support you. We're always looking for new members to join the racing team and we'd be happy to show you the ropes (or lines as the case may be). In addition to exercising your navigational skills, these races are great social events and an opportunity to meet new people from other clubs. They are also great weekend cruising opportunities. Please come and join us.
